DIY Facial Oil for Combination skin.

As we started the transition into Winter, I felt like my skin was in need of an extra bit of nourishment, so I decided to make my own facial oil. The ingredients I use for my combination skin type are Jojoba Oil, Rosehip Oil, Frankincense and Sweet Orange Oil.

Here are some simple benefits of each oil:

Jojoba Oil : Used as a carrier oil, Jojoba is so similar to the sebum (oil) that is naturally in your skin so it is very unlikely to clog your pores. It seals your skin with a protective barrier that works to lock in moisture. It is antioxidant, antibacterial and hypoallergenic.

Rosehip Seed Oil: A Hydrator and a moisturizer. Rosehip seed Oil is also a natural exfoliator; high in vitamins A and C, it's bound to leaving your skin bright and glowy. It helps boost Collagen (yes please!) and helps reduce fine lines.

Frankincense Oil: This gem of an oil has natural astringent properties, meaning that it will balance the production of oil and tighten the skin. It's another anti-aging oil which will work on those fine lines. It is a great one for oily skin as it soothes and reduces inflammation.

Sweet Orange Oil: I love it for it's fresh summery fragrance, but this oil has so much more than just a great smell going for it. It's high in Vitamin C,  which helps to reduce dark spots and blemishes. It fights off free radicals, promotes cell growth and boosts circulation in the skin.

Notes:

It is best to use high-quality, preferably cold-pressed organic oils, free from harmful toxins.

I would recommend using a dark, glass bottle for your oil ( I like to reuse a bottle that was previously used for something else). A dark bottle will ensure that your oil doesn't get damaged by light and will keep it for longer.

I know there are various opinions on Essential oils out there, I am giving it a try to see if it works for my skin. So far I have really been enjoying the results. I tend to use my oil around 3 times a week, when my skin is feeling like it needs an extra boost.

Generally, the ratio of essential oils is 1-2 % to the amount of carrier oils that you use.
