A makeup artists best friend is his or her KIT and there is a product for each and every situation.
Here is a list of my top 5 favourite products in my kit...
1. Evian Natural Mineral Water Facial spray
It has a unique mineral balance and natural pH which makes it the perfect product to refresh all skin types.It hydrates, moisturizes, refreshes and can be used as a toner.
KMM Tip:
I love to use my evian spray just before I start a makeup application, instead of re-applying moisturiser, I spray onto the skin as a mist, let it settle for a few seconds and then I brush or buff it into the skin with my foundation brush. The skin is now hydrated, dewy and ready for primer or foundation.
2. Essence eyebrow designer in Light Brown
This super affordable eyebrow pencil is a must have for your makeup kit. It glides on smoothly, is long-wearing, has a slight waxy feel and a light shimmer. The best part about it is that it costs under R20! Love it!
KMM Tip:
The eyebrows are one of the most important features of the face, as it frames the face. It is essential to fill in eyebrows when doing a full face of makeup. Not necessarily to make eyebrows darker, but to define them. I have quite dark eyebrows myself and I find that this light brown pencil works perfectly!
3. Elizabeth Arden 8hour cream
This Legendary product has so many functions, it can be used for sunburn, minor skin irritations, dry or chapped lips and of course its original function...Miss Arden used it to sooth her horses bruises.
KMM Tip:
When applying makeup, apply 8hour cream or lip balm first, so that the product has time to settle into the lips while you paint the rest of the face. When you are ready to do the lips, right at the end of the application, blot the excess lip balm with a tissue.
4. Body Shop Bronzing powder in Deep Matte
This Bronzer has a very fine and smooth texture which I love. It contains no shimmer, so it looks completely natural in the daylight. It comes in a few different shades, so it's suitable for all skin tones and does not make you look orange!
KMM Tip:
With winter coming up and our tans fading, a bronzer is the perfect product to keep that sunkissed look going throughout the chilly season. I love to apply my bronzer around the contours of the face, along the cheekbones and jawline up to the temples with a medium sized fluffy brush, so you get a soft natural 'just been to the beach' look.
5. MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Medium Dark
One of my favourite products of all time. This luxurious, lightweight powder contains baked minerals and provides a perfect natural-matte coverage with a slight sheen. It can be used to set your foundation or can be worn on its own and can easily be reapplied throughout the day.
KMM tip:
I'm not a huge fan of wearing powder for fear of it looking too cakey. But because my skin can be quite greasy at times and I prefer a dewy foundation to a matte one, I definitely need something to set my foundation and to blot my skin every now and then. What I Love about this powder is that it absorbs the oil but still leaves you with a natural glow. Another great thing about this product is that the darker shades work as a awesome contouring powder or can be used in place of a bronzer!
