In the last couple of years heading towards my late 20's I have discovered a few simple skin secrets that I think will benefit me in the long run... here they are...
1. Drink Loads of Water : This is a common beauty secret but it is definitely one of the most important! I find that when I am drinking lots of water everyday , my skin feels hydrated and not tight and it's visibly clearer. I have gotten into the habit of always carrying a bottle of water with me, to ensure I keep hydrated, especially on long days when I'm shooting out in the sun.
2. Regular Facials : This has been a new one for me, but definitely a routine I am going to stick to. Having oily skin might be a bonus in the long run when I'm ageing, but some days I just wish my teenage skin would grow up! Going for a facial once a month has without a doubt improved the condition of my skin, I have found that my skin is less problematic and I have more good skin days than bad skin days.
3. Eye cream : I think everyone who wears makeup should be wearing an eye cream. If you spend evenings rubbing makeup off your eyes before bed, it is important that you replace the moisture and keep it hydrated with a hydrating eye cream. Using an eye cream regularly should help slow down the ageing process around the eyes.
What I use: Bobbi Brown Hydrating Eye Cream
4. Use a Gentle Eye makeup remover : I believe you should use a gentle but effective eye makeup remover with a soft cotton pad instead of scrubbing your eyes with a face wipe. Ideally you should soak the cotton pad with eye makeup remover and gently place it over your eyes so that your eye makeup starts dissolving before gently wiping it away. With face wipes I prefer to use alcohol and fragrance free wipes, just so that there are two less ingredients to potentially aggravate my skin.
What I Use : Like Silk Eye Makeup Remover & Dove Liquid Cotton Cosmetic Wipes
5. Have No Makeup Days : Much to my disappointment as a makeup artist- my husband's favourite look is my No Makeup look. It is definitely important to have no makeup days, time to give your skin a chance to breathe without foundation covering it. It is also quite liberating to embrace your natural beauty, although be warned- you might frequently get asked if you're ok? or "Are you Tired?" lol.
